WeHo, Peru: How Jesus Got His Sparkle Back

Saturday, February 16 - Cusco, Peru

Dinner last night was at the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Hotel, which is in a valley about a 20-minute bus ride from the site. Cameron Diaz stayed here recently and I don't blame her. If Justin Timberlake left me for Jessica Beil, this is where I'd go to forget. It's paradise.

At one point, on the train ride home, dance music kicked and the guy and gal stewards who had just served me a tasty Inca Cola did a full-on scarf and sweater fashion show…right there on the train! All that was missing was Heidi Klum telling them whether they were in or out.

Dennisatchurch_2 This morning, we toured the Cathedral of Cusco and the San Pedro de Andahuaylillas Church. As old churches go, I prefer the quirkier, kind of artsy-craftsy décor in these to what I saw in Rome last summer. You can imagine an actual human creating it. There was crucifixion statue and Jesus was wearing a bedazzled skirt…as if he's going to be on Dancing with the Stars as soon as his resurrection goes through. You don't get that at the Vatican.

After dinner and a folkloric show at the divine Monasterio Orient Express Hotel, we hit the local, gay-owned nightspot, Fallen Angel. I love this place! For cocktail tables, they have glass-topped bathtubs with live fish inside, silently judging you for drinking too much. I wish I could air drop this place into West Hollywood. Of course, those fish would have to start working out.  They're a little chunky for WeHo.
