Today, Alaska Airlines announced the launch of a new gay micro site. This is astonishing news to me and speaks volumes about how far the airline industry and especially Alaska Airlines has come with respect to their GLBT customers. Alaska has traditionally been considered very conservative. The first time I flew with them I was startled to find a religious message on a piece of paper on my meal tray!
Alaska airlines serves Alaska, of course, but also a other destinations in the U.S. (including Hawaii), Canada and Mexico.
I was fortunate enough to visit Alaska last year. My favorite things to enjoy there follow.
- Super long days. Summer sun doesn't set till after midnight!
- Hike for days Just so many beautiful sites to absorb, including glaciers. (Catch 'em before they melt!)
- Amazing food. Fresh fish and local produce abound. Enjoy, foodies!
- Drive-up espresso stands. Yes, they need the fuel in those long, cold, dark winters.

Below is a picture of mama bear and baby bear I saw way up close during a visit to Alaska.

Its so nice to hear something good about gay Alaska! Its been off my gay map after that disappointing marriage case back in '96...

They launched the site last September, and the right-wing threw a fit over the "gay discounts." HRC's Equality Index rates Alaska Airlines 95 out of 100 points on LGBT issues. Yes, the state of Alaska is conservative, but the airline is based in Seattle now. For more news about LGBT Alaska, visit BentAlaska.com
